Commissions

A commission is a collaboration between customer and artist. Lucy has always embraced this working relationship, considering it to be an enriching and challenging aspect of her work. Ideas spring out of the commissioning process that may not necessarily happen otherwise.

Berwick Chasuble (Detail)

The commission to make a chasuble for Berwick Church in Sussex, was inspired by the position of the Church in the chalky down land landscape, soft shades of colour, and the Paintings of Eric Ravilious, who encapsulated in his work the atmosphere of this place. The chasuble is made from linen, with detail of stitched collage and fine pieces of knapped flint sewn into the border.
